Revelation 13:5-7

⁵ It was allowed to mouth its haughty and blasphemous words, and it was granted permission to exercise its authority for forty-two months.^{[a] 6} It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, as well as against his name and his dwelling and all those who live in heaven.

⁷ The beast was also allowed to wage war on the saints and conquer them, and it was given authority over every tribe, people, language, and nation.
